The Internet Should Belong to All of Us! Support Net Neutrality!
EMAIL ACTION ALERT
The Internet Should Belong to All of Us!
This week, tell the FCC to Enact Strong Net Neutrality Rules to Prevent a ‘Separate But Unequal’ Internet
The Internet as we know it is in danger. Big cable and phone companies want to limit your freedom online, and charge you new fees for accessing applications or visiting sites that are currently free. For example, there would be nothing stopping Comcast, Verizon, or AT&T from charging you $1 for a visit to Facebook, or $3 for a phone call placed over Skype.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is considering new rules that would keep the Internet open and neutral, but those big cable and phone companies are fighting hard to make the rules meaningless. The Internet as we know it now is a limitless ocean of information; if we do not enact net neutrality rules, new pricing policies could artificially dam the free flow of information.

If the FCC adopts strong net neutrality rules, cable and phone companies would be prevented from blocking or discriminating against certain content. Discrimination on the Internet will disproportionally impact communities of color, women, and all other groups for whom the digital divide is already a barrier. The big phone and cable companies want to create an Internet that separate but unequal – where free access to information is only for the privileged.
